SUSAN D. NEWMAN

 

Biography


Susan D. Newman received her Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University, where she double majored in Psychology and Political Science.  She was awarded a Dean’s Scholarship to John Marshall Law School, graduating magna cum laude.  While in law school Susan was active in law review and externed for judges in the Northern District of Illinois and the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. 


Following law school, Susan served for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Charles P. Kocoras in the Northern District of Illinois, where she authored nearly 200 civil judicial opinions.  She thereafter joined the law firm of Baker & McKenzie as an associate in the employment litigation group.  There, Susan specialized in legal research and writing, with a heavy emphasis on complex federal matters.  She has authored speeches and white papers on topics ranging from tax issues to anti-union strategies in the workplace.
